Silver Never Looked So Scary!

Silver by Chris Wooding
Published by Scholastic Press

Recently orphaned Paul has been placed at Mortingham Boarding Academy somewhere in the UK. Typical boarding school reality ensures until a silver beetle shows up – a beetle that is more circuit board than insect. Unfortunately, the beetle is only of the beginning as animals and then people become infected and turn into deadly silver circuits. Mr. Wooding creates a horrific world where nanoviruses evolve and take over the world, where the adults let you down and the children step up, where an infected friend goes against the Alpha Carrier to save the ones she loves, where no one is left behind. As chaos ensues, Mr. Wooding has the reader careening from one heart-stopping moment to another. It’s the end if the world as we know it! Silver will definitely fly off the shelves so load up.

PS “It’s the End of the World” by REM is great background music!
