How to be a smart Caged Warrior!

Cage Warrior by Alan Lawrence Sitomer
Published by Disney Book Group 5/13/2014

McCutcheon Daniels (aka Bam Bam) is a teen underground MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter in Detroit. His life is harsh – mom left, dad’s addicted to gambling, alcohol, and drugs, and he has a five year-old sister Gemma. With no one else to take care of her, McCutcheon fights in order for his family to survive. In this brutal world, teachers try to help, try to bring hope, but is a different life even a possibility?

Alan Lawrence Sitomer’s stark language puts readers right outside the cage where we see the broken bones and blood spatter, puts us into McCutcheon’s head where the love of his sister is the only thing keeping the hopelessness at bay and puts us into the poverty of D-Town. McCutcheon’s cruel reality stays with us even when we put the book down. Unfortunately, to many teens his reality is not fiction, but their reality every day.

Once again, Mr. Sitomer gives teens an action packed story that will keep them hooked until the very end. Libraries will need multiple copies of Caged Warrior to keep their teens satisfied!
